Join Steve England, on a new journey back in time to learn about the history of the central area of Stoke Park Estate.

Join Stoke Park historian, Steve England, on a new fascinating journey back in time to learn about the history of the Stoke Park Estate, covering the central park of the park.

Steve will take you on a walk back in time throughout the park, looking at the wonderful features around Pale Plantation, the history of the Dutchess Gates and lakes, hidden structures and the medieval quarries and farming activity dating back to the 11th Century. He will share the fascinating history of the central parts of the park, and teach all about the treasures dating back many hundreds of years.

This is a new history tour, part 2. Other history tours include part 1, covering the upper woodlands and the Dower House, and part 3, covering Purdown, Sir John’s Lane and the Gun Emplacements.

Hill walking will be involved, approximately a 2 mile walk. Please wear suitable clothing and sturdy footwear. We will be meeting outside the Cameron Centre and this walk will be approximately 2 hours long.

Please bring a drink, camera and notepad! Please note this walk does not go inside the privately owned Dower House property.

Cancellation/Postponing due to Poor Weather

SE Outdoor Learning events take place outdoors, and therefore unfortunately we may need to be postponed or cancelled in the days leading up to the event if it seems that the weather will be too poor for it to be run safely. We will always aim to confirm cancellation of the event 24 – 48 hours in advance (though on very rare occassions, sudden weather changes may mean its closer than this). Please keep an eye on your emails and Facebook for information regarding this. If you cannot make the postponed date, please request a refund and we will be able to issue this for you asap.

COVID UPDATE – PLEASE READ BEFORE BOOKING

Please follow all current Covid information and government guidelines. For further Covid procedures, please get in touch with Steve England Outdoor Learning.
