A fascinating journey back in time to 300 million years ago, discovering the geology and fossils of the Frome Valley.

The Frome Valley stretches for 20 miles, dating back 300 million years in time. Join Steve England on a fascinating journey back in time along the Frome Valley in East Bristol, taking us back before the dinosaurs evolved, and learn how the rocks were formed, discover the fossils within the valley, and learn all about the prehistoric features that tell a fascinating story.

A unique opportunity on a Friday evening to learn about the beautiful Frome Valley with local historian and wildlife expert, Steve England. Provided as part of the Bristol Walk Festival.

We will meet at Snuff Mills Car Park at the end of River View, BS16 1DL (please note this is now a pay and display car park). The route will be circular and will take approximately 2 hours.

What to Bring?

Please wear sturdy footwear and gloves and bring a notepad, pen and camera to record your findings! Bring your own refreshments.

Cancellation/Postponing due to Poor Weather

SE Outdoor Learning events take place outdoors, and therefore unfortunately we may need to be postponed or cancelled in the days leading up to the event if it seems that the weather will be too poor for it to be run safely. We will always aim to confirm cancellation of the event 24 – 48 hours in advance (though on very rare occassions, sudden weather changes may mean its closer than this). Please keep an eye on your emails and Facebook for information regarding this. If you cannot make the postponed date, a voucher can be provided for attendance to any future SEOL event.
