Sponsored by U.W.E this event is great opportunity to get hands on coppicing small hazel trees within the woodlands of Stoke Park,led by Conservationist and Stoke Park historian Steve England, Steve will give us a short guided walk of the woodlands to demonstrate why they were planted back in the 18th century and also look at some of the trees that had been coppiced many years ago,we will then learn the reasons why trees are coppiced and how it is beneficial to a working woodlands, also to look at the uses of the coppiced timber,now comes the fun part, we get to coppice some small hazel trees ourselves using hand saws , this event is very physical work and can be hard work, please ensure this event is suitable for you before booking, we will be having a fire (obviously) if you wish to bring foods to cook, please do, very limited places to book email newlook388@aol.com (this event is only suitable for ages over 15 years old) please ensure you read event details before booking,many thanks.
