A history tour of the Stoke Park estate designed for accessibility and those less able to walk a distance.

Join Stoke Park historian, Steve England, on a fascinating journey back in time to learn about the history of the Stoke Park Estate.

Steve will take you on a journey back in time throughout the park, looking at some of the wonderful features, hidden structures and monuments dating back to the 11th Century. He will share the fascinating history of the yellow Dower House on the hill, and teach all about the treasures dating back many hundreds of years.

The event will aim to stick to paths and upper woodlands, making the walk more accessible. The event will start at the Vench and use the newly laid path and woodland paths only. You will still need to be able to travel via walking or mobility methods around these paths and woodlands. We will be stopping more regularly and travelling slower than usual event pace to allow for different needs on this walk.

Please wear suitable clothing and footwear.

Please bring a drink, camera and notepad! Please note this walk does not go inside the privately owned Dower House property.

This event has been funded as part of the BCC Stoke Park Community Engagement Fund 2021/22. If you are no longer able to attend, please get in touch asap so spaces can be made available for others.

Cancellation/Postponing due to Poor Weather

SE Outdoor Learning events take place outdoors, and therefore unfortunately we may need to be postponed or cancelled in the days leading up to the event if it seems that the weather will be too poor for it to be run safely. We will always aim to confirm cancellation of the event 24 – 48 hours in advance (though on very rare occassions, sudden weather changes may mean its closer than this). Please keep an eye on your emails and Facebook for information regarding this. If you cannot make the postponed date, please request a refund and we will be able to issue this for you asap.
